TPU Composites (thermoplastic polyurethane)

TPU compounds are thermoplastic elastomers consisting of linear segmented block copolymers composed of hard and soft segments.

TPU composites are part of our AuroraTec™ family of products and are produced by Enviroplas, an Aurora Material Solutions company. These TPU grades are fiberglass-reinforced at varying levels. The fiberglass reinforcement offers excellent stiffness and mechanical strength while maintaining excellent abrasion, chemical, and oil and grease resistance, with improved heat resistance over an unreinforced TPU.

These reinforced grades of TPU offer the combination of outstanding mechanical stiffness and strength while maintaining significantly better ductility and flexibility than other reinforced polymers such as PC (polycarbonate) or PBT (polybutylene terephthalate). Additionally, the surface quality of these reinforced TPUs provides a better aesthetic appearance when compared to other reinforced engineered thermoplastics such as reinforced polycarbonate or polycarbonate alloys.
