Aurora Material Solutions Announces Merger with Enviroplas

Platform expansion provides customers with an extended product offering, while building on a combined commitment to superior quality and service.

STREETSBORO, OH – October 6, 2022 – Aurora Material Solutions, LLC, a leading manufacturer of polymer compounds, announced today its merger with Enviroplas Inc. (“Enviroplas”), an engineering compounding business with more than 30 years of growth history, in partnership with Enviroplas management. Sharing a commitment to being their customers’ first choice, Aurora Material Solutions and Enviroplas can now offer customers a broader product portfolio backed by industry-leading customer service. The move represents the company’s launch of an engineered polymers business segment.

“Enviroplas brings an exciting platform expansion in a near-product adjacency with meaningful synergies,” says Darrell Hughes, chief executive officer of Aurora Material Solutions. “We are excited to partner with the Enviroplas leadership team to drive continued growth.”

Jim Stratman, founder and chief executive officer of Enviroplas, will remain a substantial shareholder and continue to lead the growth as president of Enviroplas, the engineered polymers business of Aurora Material Solutions, reporting to Hughes. Enviroplas’ leadership team and employee base will continue in their current roles.

“We completed extensive research of the market and growth opportunities prior to initiating this merger,” explains Hughes. “Jim and his leadership team have dramatically accelerated the company’s growth by leveraging their deep industry knowledge, operating rigor, and results focus.”

Enviroplas was founded by Jim Stratman in 1992 and operates out of two sites in Evansville, IN. “There are tremendous cultural similarities between Aurora Material Solutions and Enviroplas,” says Stratman. “Most important of these is the focus on customer intimacy and partnership, enabling the continued growth of Aurora’s engineered compounds and vinyl specialties businesses.”

The combined company offers a broad range of custom compounding capabilities and technologies, including:

  • Engineered Polymers: PC, PC/ABS, PC/PBT, PC/ASA, PC/SAN, PC/PET, ABS, TPU, Copolyester, Copolyester/PC, PEI, PBT, MABS, Polysulfone
  • PVC compounds: rigid PVC powder and pellet; CPVC, flexible PVC pellets; clear, opaque, and colored flexible PVC; rigid cellular PVC; PVC/acrylic alloys
  • Thermoplastic Elastomers: styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) and styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene (SEBS) block co-polymers; TPO and chlorinated polyethylene alloys (CPE)
  • Other Specialty Compounds: custom thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO), low-smoke zero-halogen compounds (LSOH), flame retardant concentrates, and purge compounds

“Aurora is a great company and was an outstanding choice to build on Enviroplas’ legacy of providing top-tier innovation, strong customer service, and leading product quality. Partnering with Aurora allows an immediate scaled platform for our products, with growth accelerators in process, people, and technology. These are exciting times,” says Stratman.

Aurora Material Solutions’ equity sponsor, Nautic Partners, has a proven value creation and growth model. Nautic is excited to provide resources and capital that will accelerate the growth of both the engineered compounds and vinyl specialties businesses of Aurora Material Solutions.
