Al Chong – Business Development Manager – Wire, Cable and Electrical

Aurora Material Solutions announces the appointment of Al Chong to the position of business development manager for the wire, cable and electrical markets. In his position, Chong will be responsible for researching new opportunities in these markets, fostering client relationships and working closely with Aurora Material Solutions’ R&D teams to ensure that Aurora Material Solutions remains our customers’ first choice.

Chong joins Aurora Material Solutions from Lion Elastomers (Geismer, LA), where was the sole account manager for wire and cable accounts. In that position, he managed a portfolio of products that included EPDM, liquid EPDM, EP copolymers for coatings, lubricants, insulation and roofing; and doubled the sales for Lion’s wire and cable business.

Chong has nearly 20 years of experience in wire and cable. Prior to working for Lion Elastomers, he held positions as a senior buyer for Southwire (Waukegan, IL); as a polymer chemist for Coleman Cable, Inc. (Waukegan, IL); and as an R&D chemist for Judd Wire, Inc. (Turners Falls, MA).

He holds an MBA with a finance concentration from the University of Illinois Chicago as well as a master’s degree in chemistry from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He has a bachelor’s degree in polymer chemistry from the Rochester Institute of Technology as well.

Chong has published three articles on various industry related topics. He also served as a military intelligence officer for the United States Army and is fluent in Cantonese and sign language.
