Rigid & Flexible PVC for industrial applications

Industrial

With a variety of high-performance compounds, Aurora Material Solutions is a valued partner in developing solutions for various industrial applications, including exterior, underground, and extreme cold applications, as well as those where there is no exposure to direct sunlight.

AuroraTec™

  • AuroraTec exterior weatherable rigid PVC compounds are highly impact resistant and meet AAMA (American Architectural Manufacturers Association) standards for outdoor performance. AuroraTec™ compounds are available in powder or pellet form in various colors for application flexibility. AuroraTec RPVC can be either clear or opaque. opaque PVC has additives, such as fillers and pigments to block transparency and impart a specific color. Clear rigid PVC is the same compound, just without the fillers and pigments.
  • Highly versatile, our AuroraTec interior rigid PVC compounds can be used as stand-alone compounds or as structural substrates, along with capstock, in two-part systems for applications that require high weatherability. However they’re used, these versatile compounds provide a wide processing window and excellent impact resistance. AuroraTec RPVC can be either clear or opaque. opaque PVC has additives, such as fillers and pigments to block transparency and impart a specific color. Clear rigid PVC is the same compound, just without the fillers and pigments.
  • With AuroraTec PVC composites, enhanced dimensional stability is achieved. At more than twice the tensile or flexural modulus of typical PVC substrates, higher performance-engineered profiles are possible. Combined with a lower coefficient of expansion, you also get significantly less contraction or expansion due to temperature fluctuations. They can be used as stand-alone compounds or as structural substrates, along with capstock, in two-part systems for applications that require high weatherability.
  • AuroraTec TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) composites are thermoplastic elastomers consisting of linear segmented block copolymers composed of hard and soft segments. These TPU grades are fiberglass-reinforced at varying levels. The fiberglass reinforcement offers excellent stiffness and mechanical strength while maintaining excellent abrasion, chemical, and oil and grease resistance, with improved heat resistance over an unreinforced TPU.
  • AuroraTec PC/PBT (polycarbonate/polybutylene terephthalate) compounds are alloys of amorphous polycarbonate and the semi-crystalline polybutylene terephthalate resin. These compounds offer good chemical resistance, great impact and heat resistance, as well as outstanding aesthetic and processability characteristics. Impact-modified grades can provide a high level of impact strength at low temperatures.

AuroraGuard™

  • AuroraGuard CPVC compounds are ideal in applications that require low smoke, high-heat performance. As a result, it is ideal for a variety of building and construction applications that require high temperature and/or flame performance and smoke ratings such as siding, windows, fences, electrical, custom extrusion, and custom injection molding.
  • AuroraGuard ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) combines the strength and rigidity of the acrylonitrile and styrene polymers with the toughness of the polybutadiene rubber. In industrial applications, these grades exhibit recyclable and environmental-friendly properties, and are ultraviolet (UV) resistant, flame retardant, and available in a wide range of viscosities.
  • AuroraGuard CPE (chlorinated polyethylene elastomer) alloys are a more economical solution that don’t have to sacrifice performance for a lower price point. CPE is produced by chlorination of polyethylene, with chlorine content ranging from 15 to 30% by weight. CPE has excellent physical and mechanical properties, such as resistance to oils, chemicals, and improved thermal properties. CPE polymers can also exhibit better compression sets, flame retardancy, tensile strength, and abrasion resistance, and can range from rigid thermoplastics to flexible elastomers, making them highly versatile.
  • AuroraGuard TPOs (thermoplastic polyolefins) are multiphase compositions in which one phase consists of a material that is hard at room temperature and fluid when heated, and the other phase consists of an elastomeric material that is soft and rubberlike at room temperature. Aurora Material Solutions offers both halogenated and non-halogenated TPO based materials.  AuroraGuard™ TPOs are used primarily as flame-retardant, polyethylene-based in the wire and cable market; flame-retardant, polypropylene for the battery market (UL 94 V0 & V2); and interior, exterior and paintable applications for the automotive market. Various fillers and additives are also incorporated to meet required specifications by material and design engineers. All AuroraGuard™ TPOs can be color matched with UV additives to pass OEM accelerated weathering and two year outdoor weathering tests.
  • AuroraGuard PC (polycarbonate) compounds are amorphous, thermoplastics that possess outstanding impact strength, excellent colorability, and superior heat resistance with good electrical and thermal properties, low- temperature toughness, and superior dimensional stability. They can be provided unfilled or filled with specialized fillers, mineral or fiberglass reinforcement. PC compounds are available in flame-retardant grades (both non-halogenated and brominated), a wide range of melt viscosities, and can be offered with recyclable PC content and ultraviolet (UV) stabilized grades for outdoor weatherable applications. The polycarbonate (PC) product family complies with FDA (Food and Drug Administration), REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals), NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) and UL listed (UL 94).
  • AuroraGuard PC/ABS (polycarbonate/acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) compounds are the result of alloying these two amorphous thermoplastics to take advantage of the polycarbonate’s toughness and the ease of processing ABS. PC/ABS can provide impact strength, heat resistance, colorability, very good aesthetics, and dimensional stability. They can be provided unfilled or filled with specialized fillers, mineral or fiberglass reinforcement. They are available in flame-retardant grades (both non-halogenated and brominated), a wide range of melt viscosities, recyclable PC/ABS content, and ultraviolet stabilized grades for outdoor weatherable applications.

AuroraShield™

AuroraShield ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylic) is an amorphous resin designed to provide outstanding weather resistance. Similar to acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) in mechanical properties, ASA provides excellent ultraviolet (UV), water whitening and stress crack resistance. These grades exhibit low heat build-up, good flow, good aesthetics, impact strength, toughness, flame retardancy, dark color weatherability and a wide range of viscosities. This series also has recyclable and environmental-friendly products. It can be processed using compounding.

AuroraShield PC/ASA (polycarbonate/acrylonitrile styrene acrylic) compounds are the result of alloying these two amorphous thermoplastics to take advantage of the polycarbonate’s toughness and the UV and moisture resistance of the terpolymer ASA. These compounds offer impact strength, heat resistance, colorability, very good aesthetics, and excellent weatherability. They can be provided unfilled or filled with specialized fillers, mineral or fiberglass reinforcement. Because they provide good outdoor UV stability with better stiffness and impact, AuroraShield PC/ASA compounds are ideal for mirror housings.

AuroraFlex™
